Maybe it?s the sudden rush of cloud storage competitors, but Dropbox is suddenly in a big hurry to move formerly beta version features into release. The latest allows Mac and Windows users to automatic upload photos to the service anytime a device is connected.
The Dropbox Blog announced late Thursday that yet another of the company?s beta features has been pushed out to the release version. After making sharing easier less than a week ago, Dropbox now allows Mac and Windows users to automatically upload photos and videos ?from just about any camera, tablet, SD card or smartphone? and save them in the cloud.
?Getting pictures off your camera has always been a huge pain,? the company explains. ?So we put our heads down and worked worked worked to ensure that automatic upload would play nicely with anything that might have a photo or video on it. With the newest version for Mac or Windows, you can just plug your camera, phone, or SD card into your computer and with a few clicks of the mouse all your photos and videos are in your Dropbox!?
Dropbox has already incorporated a similar feature into its Android mobile app, and had been beta testing the feature with brave users for several months, but automatic uploading is now available to all with version 1.4 of the desktop software. If yours doesn?t automatically install (ours was already at the latest version when we woke up this morning!), hit the link to grab it directly from the website.
